Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is my SalaryMate data stored?

A: SalaryMate uses a local-first architecture. Your salary, attendance, overtime, deductions, allowances, and expense records are stored locally on your device. They are not automatically uploaded to a SalaryMate cloud server.

You can manually export your records as JSON backup files and restore them later using the app's local import/export functionality.

Q: How do I calculate Overtime (OT)?

A: Configure your OT rate per hour in the Salary Configuration screen. When recording attendance, enter the overtime hours for each applicable day. SalaryMate calculates your estimated monthly OT earnings and includes them in the applicable salary calculations.

Q: How can I restore my Pro subscription?

A: Open Profile → Subscription & Plans and tap Restore. SalaryMate will check your Google Play purchase history and restore eligible Pro access associated with your Google account. Make sure you are signed in to Google Play with the account used for purchase.

Q: How can I manage or cancel my Pro subscription?

A: If you have an active Pro subscription, open Profile → Subscription & Plans and tap Manage. This opens Google Play's subscription management page.
Important: Uninstalling SalaryMate does not cancel your Google Play subscription. You must cancel through Google Play.

Q: How do I export reports as PDF or CSV?

A: Open the Reports tab and select the report you want (salary slip, attendance, overtime, or CSV export). Tap Save & Share to save the generated file to your device or share it using Android file sharing.

Q: Can I use SalaryMate on multiple devices?

A: Yes. Manually export your SalaryMate data as a JSON backup file from one device and import that file on another device. Pro subscription is restored separately via Google Play.

Q: How do I change the app language?

A: Go to Profile → App Language and select from 12 available supported languages: English, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, and Turkish.

Q: Will my data be lost if I uninstall SalaryMate?

A: SalaryMate stores primary records locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data. Before uninstalling, export a JSON backup to preserve your records. Note that uninstalling does not cancel an active Google Play subscription.

Q: Does SalaryMate upload my salary or expense information?

A: No. Salary, attendance, overtime, deductions, allowances, expense records, payslip contents, and related personal records are processed locally and are not transmitted to a SalaryMate cloud server.

SalaryMate uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for app usage measurement and crash diagnostics. These services may receive app, installation, usage, crash, and diagnostic information as described in our Privacy Policy. SalaryMate is configured not to intentionally send salary figures, employee names, company names, expense details, attendance records, or other financial-record contents through its analytics events or crash-reporting logs.

Q: Does SalaryMate provide cloud backup?

A: No. SalaryMate currently uses local backup/export functionality rather than a cloud backup service. You can manually export your data to a JSON backup file and store or transfer it yourself.

Q: How can I report a bug or request a feature?

A: Email Jasu1070@gmail.com with a description of the issue, SalaryMate version, Android version, and steps to reproduce. Please do not send sensitive salary or personal information.
